It was around one year ago when we re-initiated our discussion with ssl.com for creating their PKI and CP/CPs as well as their infrastructure so that they apply directly to the major browsers (Mozzila, Microsoft, Apple, Google etc) to include their own certificate and become an official CA.
SSL.com has been working as a subCA of Comodo for the last years running a very successful International Business with many subCAs and end customers. They started thinking becoming CA around 4 years ago launching the project in January 2015.
swissns GmbH has consulted ssl.com on the CP/CPs creation, the infrastructure architecture, the configuration and operation of their HSM as well as the deployment of the system on the production and LAB servers.
We have been working on a LAB environment since February configuring and documenting the whole procedure while writing with the help of SSL.com the CP/CPs based on which the CA will be operating.
The CP/CPs is now in its final reviews, we are currently installing and configuring the production servers, network and firewalls and the Root Key Ceremony which will be audited by BDO will take place in the next couple of months.
We are very excited as this project moves on! swissns GmbH has decided and agreed with SSL.com to become a subCA under SSL.com expecting to issue our own certificates in 2016.
